Overview
AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. You will work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of next‑generation networks and assist in developing innovative ways to automate and scale our network infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and cords.
- Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in an environment that operates 24/7 with the ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed.
- Work in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation.
Traveling within and outside of the regional work area is required. You must have a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
A day in the life
- Provide the first‑level networking devices that serve customer racks, track rack intake and delivery, work with onsite teams to request rack space, power, and cooling, and partner with network engineers to ensure configurations are ready and within service‑level agreements.
- Build console and room configurations to expand capacity for customer racks.
- Work with ID‑Scaling peers to build higher‑level networking devices.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience.
- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center experience and industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Experience with common network troubleshooting tools (VFLs, OTDR, power meters).
- Knowledge of major command‑line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common networking protocols (BGP, OSPF).
