Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Sparks, NV is seeking a Network Deploy Technician to join AWS infrastructure operations.

You will work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to drive stability and scalability of our networks and help automate and scale our network. You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts and operations managers to deliver safe, secure, and cost-effective network services.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in hardware repair, cabling, network deployment, data center operations or technical project management.
  • 1+ years of computer networking and Linux experience.
  • Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with data center operations and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles and keep timelines.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues including patch panels and cords.
  • Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking for new equipment.
  • Participate in migration, basic configuration and rollout of new/upgraded hardware.

All Physical Requirements Are Expected With Reasonable Accommodations
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed
  • Working in cramped and/or elevated and/or noisy environments
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day

Traveling within and outside of regional work area is required. You will be responsible for having a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel within the regional work area, as company transportation will not be provided.

A day in the life

Our Team Has Three Primary Tasks
  • Providing the first level networking devices to serve our customer racks entails various tasks (the name of the game is efficiency): You will track network rack intake and delivery; work with various onsite teams to request for rack space, power, and cooling for network racks. And then partner with network engineers to ensure all configurations are ready. You'll also be working on link and device troubleshooting within a certain Service‑Level Agreement
  • There is also console builds (and room builds) that are really exciting. You'll be exposed to more teams whose goal is to provide more space and capacity for customer racks.
  • Work with ID‑Scaling peers to build higher-level networking devices.
Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project Management experience
  • 1+ years of computer networking experience1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
  • Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting
  • Experience conducting behavioral interviews and hiring
  • Experience with data center operations: inventory management, hot/cold aisles, security
Preferred Qualifications
  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
  • Data center experience Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters
  • Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
