Job summary

Jobtailor in United States Virginia Beach is seeking skilled Network Operations Specialist to support the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) and NETTN, ensuring continuous network connectivity and security across multiple classification levels.

You will coordinate with Navy, DISA, and circuit providers, maintain IA compliance, and troubleshoot WAN/LAN issues, VoIP, and cryptographic devices within NOSC. A Secret clearance and Security+ are required.

Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 0 years' experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
  • 4–7 years demonstrated experience in network operations and support
  • Security+ or equivalent certification required
  • Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret security clearance
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting WAN and LAN network equipment and circuits
  • Experience monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting ASA firewall ACLs
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues at the protocol/packet level using sniffers, protocol analyzers, NetFlow, logging, etc.
  • Technical network troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of Cisco Internetworking, including IP addressing, switching, routing, and Cisco IOS
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, OSI model, and frame/packet structure
  • Experience in a network operations center environment, including help desk, customer communication, trouble ticketing, and issue resolution
  • Experience with Department of Defense Security Technical Implementation Guidelines
  • Experience with network and performance monitoring tools such as SolarWinds
  • Experience with network security technologies including firewalls, VRFs, and port-security/802.1x
  • Familiarity with Cisco VoIP, PoE switches, and Call Manager
  • Experience with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices and keymat, particularly KG-175D and KG-75
  • Must be willing to work periodic shifted schedules including evening, night, and weekend shifts
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline is preferred
  • CCNA certification or equivalent is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Job description


  • Work on the Night Watch supporting the Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE)

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot network connectivity and infrastructure on the Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN)

  • Support operation and maintenance of multiple networks across different classification levels

  • Maintain continuous network connectivity for customers and sites

  • Coordinate with Navy, DISA, and commercial circuit providers for implementation and troubleshooting

  • Maintain Information Assurance compliance, including IOS upgrades, network device configuration changes, and firewall ACL verification and changes

  • Support remote sites in restoring network failures

  • Troubleshoot WAN circuits, equipment failures, router and switch configurations, firewall access control lists, VoIP device registrations and configuration, cryptographic device configurations, and keying material

  • Work in the Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC), which provides network operations support and operations and maintenance (O&M)
