Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior network engineer to design, implement, and maintain high-performance IP infrastructure using MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and ISIS. You will lead complex troubleshooting, contribute to network modernization, and ensure compliance with ISO27001 and PCI-DSS.

The role requires top-level security credentials, hands-on work with Ciena/Cisco/Juniper platforms, and proficiency in Python or Ansible for automation. Arlington, VA area preferred.

Qualifications

Master's degree with 8+ years or Bachelor's with 10+ years in network engineering.
U.S. citizenship and Top-Secret clearance with TS eligibility.
5+ years provisioning carrier-class networks.

Job description

Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and resilient IP network infrastructure using MPLS and IP/Ethernet
Provide Tier 3/4 escalation support
Conduct deep-packet inspection and root cause analysis for complex outages
Manage and optimize BGP, OSPF, and ISIS routing protocols, with focus on traffic engineering and internet peering
Implement and manage carrier-grade NAT for IPv4/IPv6 transition
Manage AAA/RADIUS infrastructure and high-capacity wireless/mobility cores
Continuously monitor network performance and conduct capacity planning for high-traffic volumes
Develop and implement Python, Ansible, or Terraform automation scripts for configuration, provisioning, and MOP execution
Ensure compliance with ISO27001 and PCI-DSS security standards
Implement network-level security including DDoS protection and lawful intercept
Create and maintain network diagrams, MOPs, and technical documentation
Lead complex troubleshooting and drive network modernization across L0–L3 layers

Requirements

Masters Degree in Network Engineering or related field + 8 years experience or Bachelors Degree in Network Engineering or related field + 10 years experience
5+ years experience with provisioning carrier-class networks
U.S. citizenship
Active Top-Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
5–15+ years in network engineering within a service provider, ISP, or carrier-grade data center environment
Technical proficiency in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, IKE, IPSEC, VPNs, and VLANs
Technical proficiency in SONET/SDH, FDDI, and OTN (ITU-T G.709, OTU4, OTU2)
Hands-on experience with carrier-grade platforms such as Ciena, Cisco ASR/NCS/Nexus, Juniper MX/Mist, Nokia, or Arista
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python or Ansible
Strong Linux CLI skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
CCNP/CCIE certification preferred but not required
Experience with CGNAT platforms, such as F5 BIG-IP or A10 Networks, preferred
Knowledge of 5G core networking or virtualized platforms such as VMware or OpenStack preferred
Experience with fiber transport technologies such as DWDM, ROADM, WSS, or PON preferred
