Job summary

Mbi Llc is seeking a mid-level Network Administrator to join our team in Fairfax, VA. The role focuses on supporting LAN/WAN and Internet systems, maintaining hardware/software, and ensuring security best practices across the Transportation Operations Center.

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of hands-on networking experience, a 4-year degree or relevant certifications, and the ability to work independently and with others. Growth opportunities and collaborative projects are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on networking experience.
  • 4 year degree and/or industry certifications.
  • Experience, creativity and multi-tasking to independently and collaboratively achieve department service and support objectives for the Transportation Operations Center.
  • Ability to work without assistance; manage medium complexity; provide limited leadership; collaborate with others.
  • Hands-on LAN/WAN/Internet systems experience; maintain network hardware and software.
  • May supervise other network support and client server specialists; plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
  • Coordinate development, implementation, and maintenance of LAN/WAN.
  • Maintains network’s physical and logical structures; inventory; change history.
  • Document solutions for ongoing support; provide training.
  • Tuning and capacity planning to enhance network performance.
  • Assess existing network, software, and current solutions; recommend based on specs and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Configure equipment and software to meet business needs; train others; document solutions.
  • Team-based on larger projects or individual on smaller projects.
  • Provide technical support and assist with Infrastructure design.
  • Experience in technical services, support, and network administration (DHCP, DNS, routers, firewall).
  • Respond to Tier 1 and 2 network/software support requests.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and customers of varying technical expertise.
  • Respond to break/fix requests associated with network resources.
  • Design extensions of and connections to the campus network.
  • Assist with deployment of new/replacement network hardware and communications infrastructure.
  • Maintain up-to-date project/architecture documentation.
  • Maintain inventory and maintenance records.
  • Monitor network resources for faults and traffic anomalies.
  • Resolve connection issues between users and resources.
  • Maintain detailed change history of network changes.
  • Support ITS Field Maintenance with communications implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Support cybersecurity controls and defenses; threat hunting and mitigation.
  • Manage time and resource constraints.
