Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV, primarily on-site with up to 75% travel for regional and national projects.

You will lead testing programs, analyze results, mentor junior technicians, and ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA. The role offers best-in-market benefits, a company vehicle, generous per diem, and strong career progression.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments
• Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and P&IDs

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
