Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA Level III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV. This full-time role requires travel regionally up to 75% and offers base compensation up to $110/hour, plus overtime and bonuses.

You will mentor technicians, lead multi-discipline project teams, and ensure compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, and OSHA.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III or IV certification (current and in good standing).
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments.
• Proficiency with NETA MTS/ATS standards.
• Experience with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalents.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV.
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis.
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based).
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers.
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions.
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field; serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements.
