Penn Medicine’s Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) is a 50-bed Level 3 unit in Philadelphia, dedicated to premature and critically ill infants. The Unit Clerk supports the care team through clerical operations, coordinating communications, and ensuring smooth admissions, transfers and discharges.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED is required.
• Post high school education including computer courses and medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides receptionist support including answering telephones, greeting visitors, and responding to patient call lights.
• Ensures health information records are properly obtained, duplicated, assembled, maintained and disassembled; inputs information into computer systems.
• Protects confidentiality of patient information in all interactions.
• Facilitates patient admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Communicates orders and coordinates with RN and other staff as needed.
• Maintains organization of workstation and ensures pneumatic tube system availability.
• Attends educational sessions and collaborates with team to support Relationship Based Care.
