Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Neonatal Milk Lab Technician, you will be responsible for preparing and distributing human milk and formula, maintaining milk lab records, managing inventory via Smart Procurement, and cleaning NICU equipment such as Giraffe beds. Your work aligns with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of North Austin Medical Center.

• Participate in the unit-based Quality Improvement process.
• Coordinate and communicate patient care activities with patients and Registered Nurses.
• Prepare, label, and distribute human milk, including donor milk, using aseptic techniques.
• Order, maintain inventory, and stock supplies for the unit.
• Disinfect and clean NICU equipment, such as Giraffe beds, Panda warmers, and cribs.
• Understand and review patient charts, physician, and nursing orders.
• Report significant medical errors or adverse outcomes following established guidelines.
• Transport medications urgently needed by the nursing staff, excluding narcotics.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in healthcare food service.
• BLS certification as per SDH policy.
