About The Opportunity

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves to be on the go and provide exceptional customer service? As a Field Service Technician with Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, you will manage an assigned service territory in the Austin, TX region, visiting commercial and consumer customer locations to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on fitness equipment. You will collaborate with Sales and the broader Service team, building relationships and managing your territory to deliver a top-tier customer experience—playing a vital role in our mission to bring high-performance, reliable solutions to people wherever they work out.

This is a remote-based position; applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Austin, TX area to effectively service customers.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot networking, electrical, or mechanical issues with fitness equipment and entertainment consoles; perform preventive maintenance.
  • Build strong customer relationships, establishing trust and proactively completing on-site service.
  • Manage daily workload and scheduling to maximize customer satisfaction and meet key metrics such as tasks per day, resolution time, and first-time fix rate.
  • Travel within the assigned territory, primarily via company-provided van, to deliver efficient service.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, coordinate part exchanges, minimize shrinkage, and keep the company vehicle in good condition.
  • Keep accurate service records and reports, and complete expense reports promptly.
  • Participate in installations and regional trade shows.
  • Adhere to Life Fitness Health & Safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in technical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of fitness equipment or similar complex products.
  • High school diploma or GED; associate degree in electronics or technical field preferred.
  • Ability to adapt, multi-task, and work independently in a deadline-driven environment within a distributed team.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing issues with electro-mechanical, networking, and A/V technologies, including WiFi, power electronics, and circuits.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customers and internal teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems like Oracle and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds, push, pull, and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 85% of the time.
Benefits and Compensation

The salary range for this role in Austin, TX is $52,300 - $73,500 annually, with potential bonuses and incentives. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, employee discounts, and more.
