Job summary

Trinity Health seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to function as the mid‑level provider for newborn patients. You will assess, plan, and evaluate care under the attending pediatrician while reporting concisely and ordering labs, IVs, and medications.

Attend high‑risk deliveries, stabilize patients, and assist with transport decisions. Strong NICU experience and Illinois license are required; 1 NNP per shift means independent practice. MercyOne Genesis network supports a broad patient base.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited NNP program.
• NNP Certification.
• Unrestricted State of Illinois License.
• Experience in a NICU for at least two years.
• Comfortable working independently with only one NNP per shift.
• BLS Certification.
• NRP Certification.
• Clinical knowledge and ability to formulate interventions.
• Strong interpersonal communication with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and evaluate medical care for newborns under supervision of attending pediatrician.
• Attend high‑risk deliveries and perform resuscitation as needed.
• Stabilize babies for transport to higher level of care.
• Provide newborn care, resuscitation, and stabilization for deliveries.
• Consult with administrative, nursing, and medical staff.
• Participate in ongoing competency programs for staff development.
• Engage in nursing education and ongoing competency assessments.
• Initiate self‑development activities through readings and formal programs.
• Contribute to quality improvement and policy development in LDRP Birth Center.
