Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking a Wheel Inspector to join the C-Shift in Kansas City, KS. You will perform magnetic particle, ultrasonic and visual inspection of wheels, mark defects, and record pertinent data to ensure ASNT and AAR conformance.

Responsibilities include final-line checks, flange measurements, equipment setup, inventory data input, and defect escalation. Level I MT/UT certification must be earned within 18 months on the job.

Qualifications

• Must obtain ASNT Level I MT/UT within 18 months on the job.
• Knowledge of ultrasonic methods and defect codes.
• Ability to mark defects and record wheel data accurately.

Responsibilities

• Perform magnetic particle, ultrasonic and visual inspection of wheels for defects.
• Record data on inspection forms and input into the inventory system.
• Set up and adjust equipment; perform periodic final-line checks.
• Check flange dimensions, wheel cleanliness and appearance.
