Job summary

Amsted Rail is seeking a Wheel Inspector to perform magnetic particle, ultrasonic and visual inspections of wheels to ASNT and AAR standards. The role requires obtaining ASNT Level I certification within 18 months and includes C-Shift hours from 3pm to 11pm, Monday through Friday.

You will mark defects, record data, set up equipment and ensure compliance with quality controls in a manufacturing environment. The job emphasizes accuracy, teamwork and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Shall perform approvals to ASNT standards and AAR requirements.
• Must obtain ASNT Level I certification within 18 months on the job.
• Proficient with ultrasonic defect code and wheel inspection.

Responsibilities

• Perform magnetic particle, ultrasonic and visual inspection of wheels.
• Record data on inspection forms and mark defects clearly.
• Set up, adjust and maintain inspection equipment for accuracy.
• Inspect wheel surfaces and subsurfaces for defects per standards.
• Work on C-Shift (Mon-Fri 3pm-11pm) and escalate defects promptly.
• Assist in periodic final-line inspections when needed.
