Job summary

Leidos’ Undersea Systems Division seeks a Test Engineer to support and lead tasks with a large project team for Navy-sponsored sea devices. Candidate should be hands-on, mechanically inclined, organized, and comfortable in dynamic field and marine environments.

The role spans test logistics, BOM management, assemblies, and naval platform work, with on-site duties and potential travel. Requires security clearance eligibility and a mechanical/nautical engineering background.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, ocean or marine engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a nautical-related engineering position.
• Willingness to travel 4 times per year.
• Physical ability to navigate lab, office, docks and vessels; lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead test logistics prep, design & documentation.
• Gaining water-space & environmental approvals.
• Lead test readiness meetings.
• Lead test mobilization, execution, demobilization & analysis.
• Manage bills of material, vendor solicitations, and purchase orders.
• Mechanical assembly & documentation.
• Manage technician labor.
• Perform pressure testing & pressure certification documents.
• Prepare technical documentation for approvals.
• Interact with approving authorities.
• Install/Uninstall project materials on Naval platforms.
• Design & execute lab testing of mechanical/electrical devices.
• Operate gauges & instruments for measurements.
• Write up and present results.
• Design fixturing and other mechanical/electrical devices.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, ocean or marine engineering
