Job summary

Leidos is seeking a senior Systems Engineer - Test and Evaluation to work at a customer site in San Diego, CA. This role requires translating operational needs into technically feasible testing and integration plans for maritime systems.

You will lead test activities, communicate findings to senior military and government leaders, and travel extensively to support domestic and international evaluations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, naval architecture, mechanical, ocean or related technical field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in systems engineering, naval engineering, or test & evaluation.
• Experience supporting complex maritime, naval, shipboard, submarine, or defense systems.
• Experience communicating results to military or government stakeholders.
• Experience developing or executing test and evaluation plans and reports.
• Ability to travel extensively, domestically and internationally.
• Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support test and evaluation activities for maritime systems, fleet operations, exercises, demonstrations, and assessments.
• Serve as technical representative at the customer site in San Diego, coordinating with engineers and fleet personnel.
• Translate operational needs into feasible engineering, testing, and demonstration activities.
• Plan, execute, assess, and report system‑level test and evaluation events.
• Analyze results and risks, and propose practical improvements.
• Prepare technical briefings and recommendations for senior leadership.
• Coordinate across engineering, operations, PM, and government stakeholders.
