Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Naval Systems Engineer for the Undersea Systems Division to support a customer site in San Diego, CA. The role involves naval engineering, test and evaluation, and systems integration to support fleet activities and critical maritime missions.

The engineer will serve as a senior technical interface among engineers, fleet personnel, and government leadership, translating operational needs into feasible solutions, coordinating test events, and delivering clear briefings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, naval architecture, mechanical, ocean or electrical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in systems/naval engineering or related field.
• Experience supporting complex maritime or defense systems.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, operators, fleet personnel, and government customers.
• Experience developing and executing test and evaluation plans and related documentation.
• Experience analyzing technical data and presenting findings clearly.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; TS/SCI clearance preferred or able to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support test and evaluation activities for maritime systems and fleet operations.
• Serve as a technical representative at the San Diego site coordinating with stakeholders.
• Translate operational needs into engineering, testing, integration, and demonstration activities.
• Plan, execute, assess, and report system-level test and evaluation events.
• Evaluate performance, safety, mission effectiveness, and technical risks.
• Deliver technical briefings and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to develop technical recommendations.
