Job summary

Serco is hiring an Advanced Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Navy shipboard installations in Norfolk, VA. You will read blueprints, assemble electromechanical assemblies, and perform maintenance to keep equipment operational.

Requirements include a high school diploma, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, OSHA certification, respirator qualification, forklift certification, and at least 5 years of shipboard experience. Willingness to travel up to 10% and work extended shifts is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• Able to access NAVSTA & DBIDS and pass background/drug screening.
• OSHA certification required.
• Respirator qualification and PPE use throughout shift.
• Forklift certification required.
• At least 5 years of power tools and assemblies experience.
• 5+ years shipboard experience in related field.
• Read drawings (beginner) and follow blueprints.
• Able to work overtime and shifts as needed; travel up to 10%.
• Safety-focused with ability to navigate shipyard environments.

Responsibilities

• Follow blueprints and diagrams to fabricate electromechanical assemblies.
• Perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer guidelines.
• Work with standard industry practices to assemble complex components.
• Plan and execute tasks with limited experience and guidance.
• Work on U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in challenging environments.
• Handle equipment where improper use could cause injury.
