Job summary

Serco seeks Experienced Mechanical Assemblers to support U.S. Navy shipboard installations in Newport News, VA.

You will fabricate, assemble, and maintain electromechanical components aboard naval ships and military facilities, following blueprints and safety protocols. You will perform tool-using assembly work, read drawings, and ensure equipment reliability while adhering to stringent safety standards and shift requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have power tools experience and ability to fabricate/assemble electromechanical components.
• Shipboard experience and readiness to work in naval environments.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints; basic layout and assembly skills.
• Commitment to safety, PPE use, and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions and reporting malfunctions.
• Perform work with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field.
• Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Work on-board U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation.
• Work with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death.
