Job summary

Serco Inc. seeks an Advanced Marine Welder to support U.S. Navy ships with fabrication, assembly of electromechanical and electronic assemblies, and C5ISR system installations aboard Norfolk, Virginia.

You will apply safety practices and work with a skilled team to ensure on‑time, compliant work. This role requires a DoD Secret clearance, 5+ years shipboard welding, ability to access shipyards, and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required and DoD Secret clearance eligibility.
• Minimum 5 years of shipboard welding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED; ability to obtain access to shipyards.
• Must pass background screening and drug test.
• Complete Serco welding procedures Serco-001/002/003/007/012 within 30 days.
• Own tools and pass pre-certification weld test.
• Respirator qualification and PPE compliance.
• Travel up to 10% may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal components or repair structures using heavy machinery.
• Interpret blueprints and lay out welds for shipboard assemblies.
• Cut and shape metal; finish surfaces to remove creases.
• Climb shipyard stairs and work in kneeling positions for cable runs.
• Train staff on machinery tools and test equipment as needed.
