Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Bremerton, WA is seeking an experienced Planner/Estimator to develop detailed labor and material estimates for shipboard work and repairs on Government and Commercial vessels. Responsibilities include handling AWRs, writing specifications, and using shipyard data to prepare bids.

The role requires Navy ship repair experience, ability to read drawings and blueprints, and proficiency with NMD and MS Office. Travel to offsite locations and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Typically has a BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two years directly related experience, or six years directly related experience.
• Knowledge of shipboard systems, spaces, configuration, and costs for repairs and maintenance.
• Experience with Navy maintenance databases and ship checks.

Responsibilities

• Create NMD availabilities, work specifications, and estimates.
• Develop a comprehensive estimate of costs for the job.
• Participate in job site inspections and ship checks.
• Identify all cost elements including labor, subcontracts, rentals and materials.
• Prepare requisitions for subcontracts, rentals and material to support pricing.
• Interface with Subcontracts to resolve issues.
• Prepare work breakdown structures for proposals and negotiations.
• Establish execution approach with project and production management.
• Collaborate with Production and Schedulers to produce integrated schedules.
• Resolve technical and schedule issues with contracts and management.
