Job summary

QED Systems, Inc. seeks a Machinery/Diesel Planner-Estimator to plan and estimate repairs and ship alterations using drawings, technical documents, and NAVSEA standards. You will format work items and estimates per directives and perform on-site validations.

Preferred background includes MPDEs, SSDGs, and various ship systems. You will analyze blueprints and input data into the Navy Maintenance Database for government review, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related science field, OR eight years Naval Marine Engineering experience in responsible roles.
• Strong familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items (NSI) and JFMM VIII-4E.
• Experience with naval drawings, ship repair practices, and cost estimation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and estimate repair items and ship alterations with accurate cost data.
• Develop specifications from drawings, memos, and sketches; validate on-site.
• Input data into the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) for government review.
• Prepare time, labor, and material estimates for shop and shipboard work.
• Write and review Depot Level 4E specifications and work items.
• Review reference materials to ensure full scope comprehension.
• Support subcontractor selection with comparative estimates.
