Job summary

The GBS Group is seeking a hybrid Automation Systems Engineer who combines industrial control logic with modern software infrastructure. The role focuses on naval ship platforms, developing state-of-the-art machinery control systems and performing Linux configuration, networking, and on-board training.

You will work with designers and engineers on complex projects, contribute to life-cycle support, and develop future HM&E machinery control systems for U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or 5+ years Linux/Control Systems experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
• Strong Linux experience (Red Hat/Ubuntu) and scripting (Bash, Python, Java)
• Willingness to travel up to 20%

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify control systems software and logic for US Navy ships
• Troubleshoot and repair control systems interfacing with electrical/mechanical systems
• Onboard ships to train personnel and support system operations
• Review legacy systems and design upgrades; document technical details
