Job summary

Sprague is seeking a Nat. Gas Business Analyst to analyze and optimize processes within the natural gas unit. You will document workflows, translate requirements into user stories, and collaborate with IT and stakeholders to implement improvements.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in energy roles, strong Excel and Power BI skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. This is a full-time role based in Portsmouth, NH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (business disciplines or information systems are a plus but not required).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in energy strongly-preferred – but not required – with experience in a natural gas and/or electric operations-oriented role being preferred.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 applications required, with particular emphasis on Excel.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.
• Solid understanding of business analysis techniques/tools and project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Audit existing processes and procedures for inefficiencies, lack of documentation, poor controls, or hindered data clarity/visibility.
• Identify stakeholders and process owners to empower-user influence on improvements.
• Document current state workflows and validate with BA Manager and stakeholders.
• Design and develop improved workflows aligned with business knowledge and technologies.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure applications reflect business requirements.
• Conduct meetings to share findings and validate requirements with IT teams.
• Develop functional scripts to test new or enhanced applications and coordinate testing with users.
• Plan and implement conversion procedures for smooth transitions to new systems.
• Train the user community on new systems and support adoption.
• Lead implementation plans for new or enhanced systems within the area of responsibility.
• Support users and promptly escalate issues to IT as needed.
• Participate in merger/acquisition activities to meet informational needs.
