Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support QA/QC on utility-scale power, renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects across the United States.

This field-based role ensures construction work meets project specs, company standards, and industry regulations while collaborating with field operations to promote quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in quality control/QA on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil methods and drilled pier foundations.
• Ability to read plans, specs, drawings, and testing requirements.
• Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO testing standards.
• Experience coordinating testing agencies and subcontractors.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills; safety-focused.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and extended hours.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections to verify work against specs and drawings.
• Inspect heavy civil, earthwork, underground utilities, trenching, foundations, and HDD activities.
• Verify layout, dimensions, elevations, tolerances, and completed work.
• Coordinate material testing, field testing, and third-party inspections.
• Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, corrective actions, and quality records.
• Monitor construction activities to identify quality concerns before rework or delays.
• Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, survey crews, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues.
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of project-specific Quality Control Plans.
• Maintain organized project quality documentation and support project turnover requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings, quality audits, and project inspections as required.
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the project.
• Support field leadership by providing technical guidance related to quality standards and specifications.
• Lead by example while living and reinforcing the R-2 Core Values every day.
