Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support QA/QC on renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects nationwide.

This field-based role ensures construction activities meet project specifications, company standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations while working closely with field operations to promote quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of quality control/assurance experience on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
• Experience inspecting heavy civil, underground utilities, concrete foundations, and HDD activities.
• Ability reading project plans, specs, and testing requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with organized documentation.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections to verify work meets specs and quality standards.
• Inspect heavy civil, earthwork, underground utilities, trenching, and drilled pier foundations.
• Verify layout, elevations, and tolerances before acceptance.
• Coordinate material and field testing, plus third-party inspection.
• Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Monitor construction to identify quality concerns and prevent rework.
• Collaborate with superintendents, project managers, survey crews, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Assist with implementing Quality Control Plans for projects.
• Maintain organized quality documentation and project turnover readiness.
• Participate in customer meetings, quality audits, and inspections.
• Promote culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance on quality standards and specs.
• Lead by example and reinforce R-2 Core Values daily.
