Job summary

R-2 Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support QA/QC on utility-scale power, renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects across the United States.

This field-based role ensures construction aligns with project specifications, company standards, and customer requirements while collaborating with field operations to promote quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in quality control/QA on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
• Knowledge of heavy civil methods, HDD, foundations, trenching and utilities.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and shop drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office and project documentation systems.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections to verify work complies with project specs and customer requirements.
• Inspect heavy civil, earthwork, underground utilities, trenching, and foundations as applicable.
• Verify layout, dimensions, elevations, grades, tolerances, and completed work prior to acceptance.
• Coordinate material testing, field testing, and third-party inspection activities.
• Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, corrective actions, and quality records.
• Monitor construction to identify quality concerns before rework or schedule impacts.
• Work with Superintendents, Foremen, Project Managers, survey crews, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues.
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of project-specific Quality Control Plans.
• Maintain organized project quality documentation and support turnover requirements.
• Participate in customer meetings, quality audits, and project inspections as required.
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance related to quality standards and specifications.
• Lead by example while reinforcing R-2 Core Values daily.
