Job summary

R-2 Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support quality assurance on power, renewable energy, transmission, and substation projects across the United States.

This field-based role ensures construction aligns with project specs and industry standards while collaborating with field operations to promote quality and continuous improvement. Based on Pratt, KS, the role requires 100% travel to active project sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of quality control/inspection experience on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of heavy civil methods, drilling, foundations, and HDD operations.
• Experience reading plans, specs, drawings, testing requirements, and docs.
• Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO standards and testing procedures.
• Coordination with testing agencies, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and problem-solving with field teams.
• Proficiency with MS Office and electronic project docs.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and operation excellence; able to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections to verify work against specs and drawings.
• Inspect heavy civil activities including earthwork, utilities, foundations, and HDD.
• Verify layout, elevations, grades, tolerances, and completed work before acceptance.
• Coordinate material and field testing; arrange third-party inspections.
• Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Monitor activities to identify quality concerns early and avoid rework.
