Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Field Quality Control Representative to support QA/QC on utility-scale projects across the United States. This field-based role ensures construction aligns with project specs, standards, and regulatory requirements while coordinating testing and documenting quality activities.

Working with Superintendents and project teams, you will identify and resolve quality issues, maintain quality records, and promote a culture of safety,

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in QC/QA, inspection, or field construction on heavy civil or utility-scale projects.
• Experience with heavy civil methods, concrete foundations, trenching, HDD.
• Ability to read plans, specs, drawings, testing requirements, and construction docs.
• Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO standards and testing procedures.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving; able to work with field teams.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and extend hours as needed.
• Valid driver's license and pass pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Inspect heavy civil activities including earthwork, foundations, trenching, HDD as applicable.
• Verify layout, elevations, grades, tolerances, and completed work prior to acceptance.
• Coordinate material testing, field testing, and third-party inspection activities.
• Document inspection results, test reports, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Monitor activities to identify quality concerns before rework or delays.
• Collaborate with Superintendents, Foremen, PMs, survey crews, and subcontractors to resolve issues.
• Assist with implementation of project-specific QC Plans and turnover requirements.
• Maintain organized quality documentation and participate in audits and customer meetings.
• Promote a culture of quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance on quality standards and specifications.
• Lead by example in upholding R-2 Core Values daily.
