Job summary

Forvis Mazars is seeking an experienced national tax professional focused on compensation and benefits to join the Washington National Tax Office. You will lead efforts on evolving legislation, provide insights to clients, and develop new service offerings in collaboration with the Tax Specialty team.

The role emphasizes developing and deploying tax strategies, educating clients, and building the firm’s brand as a trusted thought leader in compensation and benefits taxation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or JD/LLM required.
• 10+ years of tax experience in a big firm, law firm, or policy entity.
• Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills.
• Deep knowledge of compensation and benefits taxation, incl. 83/162(m)/409A.
• Ability to apply evolving tax authority to real-world facts.
• Ability to identify and deploy tax strategies for complex issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients.
• Commitment to continuous learning and excellence.
• Passion for serving clients and developing others.

Responsibilities

• Provide insights on evolving legislation and case law to the firm and clients.
• Build and maintain relationships within the tax community.
• Inform legislators and governance on tax policy issues and practical impacts.
• Identify opportunities for new or improved services.
• Develop service model platforms and solutions based on developments.
• Drive creation and launch of new national tax service lines with Tax Specialty.
• Grow the firm's brand as a thought leader via publishing and speaking.
• Support tax professionals on proposals and key client matters.
• Complete engagements for complex, high-value specialty work.
