Job summary

Lennar is seeking a Director of National Purchasing Operations to lead the company’s national purchasing strategy for assigned product and service categories. The role includes running national competitive bid processes, negotiating national contracts, and partnering with divisions to drive cost efficiency and supply continuity.

The position supports a national program across multiple locations with travel up to 50% and requires extensive experience in land or purchasing within a high-volume

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years in a management level role in Land or Purchasing for a high-volume production homebuilder.
• Bachelor’s Degree required in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field.
• Medium travel required, 25–50%.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to influence people through facts and demonstrations.
• Demonstrated judgment and decision-making capabilities.
• Proven ability to inspire, train, develop, and motivate a team.
• Ability to work across multiple disciplines (Construction, Purchasing, Land, Product Development, Division and National Leadership).
• Proven ability to manage tasks to meet established deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, and follow-up capabilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong math and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain understanding of manufacturers, distributors, and key contractors across assigned categories.
• Understand key construction details and strategies for assigned categories.
• Plan and run national competitive bid processes for material and service categories.
• Develop and implement Total Cost of Ownership metrics, by market.
• Provide trade-level assistance in negotiating to TCO.
• Develop Value Engineering opportunities by category.
• Negotiate and execute national contracts with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Track and report bid results, contract compliance, and rebates by category and division.
• Support Cost Reduction and Value Engineering workshops with Divisions.
• Develop Material Guidelines and Standards in key categories.
