Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a National Bridge Design Leader to shape a growing Bridge & Structures practice. The role blends technical leadership with business development, mentoring, and market growth across the Upper Midwest, Mountain West, Texas, and beyond.

The position requires PE licensure and extensive bridge experience, with remote or hybrid work options within the U.S. and travel up to 20% to support projects and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering; a master's degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Direct technical and client experience in the Upper Midwest, Mountain West, or Texas.
• Hybrid or remote within the U.S.; preferred location in the Upper Midwest, Mountain West, or Texas; willingness to travel approximately 10-20%.
• Significant bridge engineering experience, including design and review of steel and concrete structures for state DOTs, counties, municipalities, or tribal entities.
• Experience applying advanced bridge analysis and design platforms such as RISA, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, OpenBridge Designer, or comparable tools.
• Proven ability to solve complex structural challenges involving curved girders, seismic and ice loading, and other advanced technical conditions.
• Demonstrated experience leading bridge projects or major technical components with accountability for quality, schedule, and client communication.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to clients, partners, and team members.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide disciplined technical judgment in fast-moving project environments.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and professional integrity in all aspects of project delivery.
• Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex bridge engineering efforts from concept through completion with high technical quality.
• Solve advanced structural challenges and oversee third-party designs for safety and constructability.
• Promote engineering standards and continuous improvement across the Bridge & Structures practice.
• Manage scopes, budgets, and schedules with clear communication and disciplined execution.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, agencies, and industry partners.
