Job description

Our client is a privately-owned specialty manufacturer serving customers across multiple industries throughout North America and internationally. With decades of experience in the specialty chemicals space, the company has built a strong reputation for product quality, technical expertise, and long-standing customer relationships.

Operating with a lean, collaborative team, the organization combines the agility of a smaller business with a strong technical foundation and loyal customer base. Leadership maintains a transparent, employee-focused culture where financial performance is openly shared, employees are actively involved in the company's success, and profit sharing rewards everyone for contributing to long-term growth.

The Sales Consultant will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by managing an established customer base while developing new business opportunities across the United States. This individual will partner closely with leadership, operations, and customers to strengthen existing relationships, uncover new applications for specialty products, and expand the company's market presence.

Why Consider This Opportunity?:
  • Opportunity for Growth: Join an organization investing in its people during an exciting period of growth, where high performers have the opportunity to make a significant impact within a smaller, entrepreneurial environment.
  • True Consultative Selling: Sell technical products through relationship-building and value creation—not transactional, price-based selling.
  • Highly Visible Role: You will work directly with the President & Director of Sales, and will have a meaningful influence on business growth.
  • Team-Oriented Culture: Employees are aligned around shared goals, with a strong emphasis on transparency and collaboration.
  • Profit Sharing: The company offers a profit-sharing program that rewards employees for the organization’s success (profit sharing = 50% of base salary!)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and grow an established portfolio of customer accounts by developing long-term relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Generate new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and consultative selling while maintaining a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Travel throughout the United States to meet with customers, strengthen relationships, identify customer needs, and develop strategic sales opportunities.
  • Partner closely with customers to understand their technical and commercial requirements while recommending value-added solutions across the company's specialty product portfolio.
  • Develop and execute account growth strategies that increase revenue, improve customer retention, and maximize long-term account profitability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and leadership to align customer demand, inventory planning, pricing, and production capabilities while ensuring outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline activity, customer communications, and opportunity tracking within the CRM.
  • Prepare customer quotations, negotiate pricing and service levels, and ensure timely follow-up throughout the sales process.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer by communicating market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to leadership to support future growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrate an ownership mindset by proactively identifying opportunities, solving problems, and contributing beyond defined responsibilities to support the overall success of the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of successful B2B sales experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% domestically.
  • When not traveling, this position is expected to work on-site.
  • Experience managing both existing customer relationships and developing new business opportunities.
