Job summary

BMT is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage North American payroll for Canada and the United States from Houston, TX. This permanent, full-time role reports to the People Director and requires accurate, timely payroll processing across NA.

Responsibilities include biweekly/semi-monthly payroll cycles, data integrity, and compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations. You will work with benefits and attendance data, ensuring timely filings and certificates as needed.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of payroll experience across Canada and the United States.
• Experience using ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing and reporting.
• Solid understanding of Canada and US payroll legislation, taxation, and compliance requirements.
• Payroll certification (e.g., PCP) or pursuing is considered an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management.
• Experience with time and attendance systems and timesheet management.
• Experience supporting payroll system implementations or migrations is a plus.
• Experience in an engineering, consulting, or project-based environment is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for Canadian and US employees on biweekly/semi-monthly cycles.
• Ensure earnings, deductions, and statutory remittances are calculated accurately.
• Maintain payroll records and data integrity in payroll systems.
• Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, and benefits updates.
