Job summary

City of Hastings is seeking a part-time Museum Attendant to welcome visitors, provide information on exhibits, and assist with sales of tickets, memberships, and merchandise. The role includes maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment and guiding guests in accessing the building.

The position requires strong customer service, cash handling, and basic computer skills, with bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred. Work hours are approximately 20–29 per week, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and cash handling skills; basic computer experience required.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage with museum visitors and guide them to access the building, sharing accurate information about the museum’s mission, history, collections and exhibits.
• Initiate and complete sales transactions on the TAM POS System with accurate cash handling and end-of-day drawer balancing.
• Perform cleaning tasks across the building including floors, mirrors, doors, restrooms, exhibit cases, and debris removal to keep the space safe and welcoming.
• Follow Hastings Museum policies to ensure safety of collections, property, and visitors; monitor with surveillance and report incidents as needed.
• Ensure Lied Theatre system is ready and operating correctly before each show.
