The John P McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science seeks a Guest Services Assistant Manager to oversee ticketing, the gift shop, and exhibits, driving guest satisfaction and sales performance. You will supervise staff, handle cash and deposits, and coordinate with the Guest Services Manager.

Responsibilities include managing Shopify and Altru systems, upselling, and promoting museum programs while ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to policies.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of retail experience with strong cash handling skills.
• Self-motivated and enjoys customer interaction.
• Experience with e-commerce/POS platforms required; Shopify and Altru preferred.
• Non-profit/museum experience is a plus.
• Supervisory or lead experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in daily museum store operations, ensuring smooth opening and closing procedures.
• Oversee the entire guest experience across front desk, gift shop and exhibits.
• Manage the point-of-sale system (Altru), Shopify, and in-person transactions.
• Accurately handle cash, credit, and digital transactions; reconcile daily sales and deposits.
• Support sales goals through upselling, promotions, and excellent customer service.
• Instruct and ensure staff use the store Checklist.
• Act as acting manager in the absence of the Guest Services Manager.
• Address guest inquiries and resolve complaints with professionalism.
• Promote programs, memberships, and events to guests.
• Maintain merchandising and inventory accuracy across Shopify and in-store systems.
