The RISD Museum is seeking a Visitor Services Desk Shift Supervisor to lead front desk operations and staff, ensuring a welcoming environment for students, visitors, tour groups, and RISD community members.

You will oversee scheduling, training, and performance feedback, while processing admissions, memberships, and events. The role emphasizes equity, inclusion, and excellent customer service in a busy museum setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of responsible customer service experience in a business, public, or non-profit setting.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate respectfully and effectively.
• Experience implementing and delivering training programs and imparting job knowledge to others.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and promote inclusivity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the RISD Museum front desk during operating hours.
• Provide direction, supervision and leadership to Visitor Services staff.
• Create weekly staffing schedules and manage vacation requests for Manager review.
• Process transactions including admissions, memberships, events, and group sales; handle payments and receipts.
• Respond to visitor concerns and provide information about Museum programs and events.
• Support desk coverage and escalate issues as needed; promote museum memberships.
