Job summary

The Walker Art Center seeks a temporary full-time Controller to oversee accounting operations, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and safeguard financial assets.

Reporting to the CFO, you will manage month-end close, budgeting, grants reporting, and internal controls, and supervise accounting staff in support of the museum's mission. The role starts Nov 1, 2026 and ends Jul 15, 2027, with a salary of $9,000–$10,000 per month.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • A Master’s degree or CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit or arts-related environment is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with accounting/budgeting software (ERP, Sage Intacct).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR, endowment, and general ledger.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and grant reporting in partnership with department leaders.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Provide financial insights to senior leadership and drive strategic planning.
