Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil engineering, environmental science, or related field and five years’ experience in municipal/industrial wastewater treatment, lab operations, or wastewater system inspection with at least one year in a supervisory role.
• Must possess and maintain NC Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II certification (or higher), Grade III Collection System license (or higher), and Grade A Distribution License; lower licensure acceptable if certifications obtained within first year.
• A criminal background check is required prior to hiring.

Responsibilities

• Manages the water distribution system, wastewater collections system and maintenance compliance units.
• Coordinates work with other departments and private contractors.
• Plans, organizes, directs and assigns maintenance repair activities; schedules and assigns work to crews and inspects progress.
• Maintains records and files; prepares reports; and performs related tasks as required.
