Job summary

Dorchester County Water and Sewer Department seeks a seasoned engineering leader to plan, direct, monitor and supervise the construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of County water and wastewater facilities and systems. The role develops programs, ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws, supervises staff, manages budgets, and coordinates with other departments and outside agencies.

It is a full-time, safety-sensitive position with core hours and occasional emergency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field.
• Eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and relevant water licenses within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, monitor and supervise construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of County water and wastewater facilities and systems.
• Oversee daily operation of wells and pump stations.
• Supervise staff: assign, review, and plan work; maintain standards; coordinate activities; hire and discipline as needed.
