Job summary

Goochland County's Department of Public Utilities seeks a supervisory professional to lead skilled staff in water and wastewater facility operations, system maintenance, and distribution activities. You will direct field operations, coordinate resources, and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs.

The role requires strong knowledge of EPA Safe Drinking Water Act and VDH regulations, SCADA, and accurate record-keeping, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Five years of utility operations experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
• Minimum Class IV water or wastewater license.
• Ability to read meters, gauges, blueprints and diagrams.
• Familiarity with EPA Safe Water Drinking Act and Virginia health regs.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and supervise utility operators and technicians.
• Coordinate operations to ensure safe, compliant repair and maintenance.
• Prepare regulatory reports and maintain operational documentation.
• Manage division budgets and enforce safety policies.
• Oversee emergency response and after-hours operations.
• Conduct performance evaluations and personnel actions.
