Job summary

City of Maypearl seeks a diligent Utility Billing Clerk to handle billing, payments, and account maintenance for municipal services. You will issue monthly bills, respond to inquiries, and ensure records comply with city policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of clerical, accounting or customer service experience preferred; municipal or utility billing experience desirable.
• Bilingual skills are preferred (Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, calculate, and issue monthly utility bills for all city utility accounts.
• Receive and process customer payments (cash, check, credit card, ACH) and balance daily receipts.
• Establish new customer accounts, transfers, and disconnects services as needed.
• Respond to customer inquiries in person, by phone, and by email regarding billing, account balances, payments arrangements, and service issues.
• Investigate billing discrepancies, make corrections, and coordinate with field staff on meter reads and service orders.
• Prepare delinquent notices, penalty assessments, and service disconnects for non-payment.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts, adjustments, and transactions.
• Assist with preparation of reports for management and auditors.
• Provide clerical support such as filing, data entry, scanning, and correspondence.
• Ensure compliance with city policies, applicable laws, and confidentiality requirements.
• Processes departmental requests received through the Texas Public Information Act in a timely manner and in accordance with the Act.
