Job summary

The Village of Germantown seeks a Village Engineer to lead engineering operations for public infrastructure, land development, and capital improvements. Reporting to the Public Works Director, you will provide technical guidance to the Village Board, oversee staff, and coordinate with developers, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

You will drive project management, development review, and long-range planning, supervise staff, and contribute to budget processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Wisconsin or ability to obtain.
• Progressive municipal/civil engineering experience including project management.
• Strong knowledge of public infrastructure, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, review, and construction of streets, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, specifications, and construction requirements.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and consultant performance for capital improvements.
• Conduct field investigations, site inspections, and oversee construction activities.
• Review subdivision plats, site plans, and development proposals for compliance.
• Coordinate with developers, contractors, and consultants on project requirements.
• Oversee permitting related to right-of-way work, erosion control, grading, and utilities.
• Prepare technical reports, ordinances, specifications, and contract documents.
• Supervise engineering staff; mentor and delegate workload.
• Assist in CIP development and operating budget preparation.
