Job summary
The Village of Palatine's Public Works Engineering Division seeks a Civil Engineer I to support planning, design, bidding, construction, inspection and maintenance of municipal infrastructure such as sanitary and storm sewers, water mains, streets, sidewalks and lighting. You will assist with the Capital Improvement Program and annual budget development, under the Village Engineer.
Essential duties include preparing plans and bid documents, overseeing construction, coordinating permits,
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
- FE exam and EI registration in Illinois or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- PE licensure in Illinois within four years required.
- Valid Illinois CDL with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain CDL within six months.
- Experience with municipal public works and capital improvement programs is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare plans, specs and bid documents for municipal projects.
- Oversee construction and manage change orders and pay estimates.
- Ensure contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
- Coordinate permits with regulatory agencies.
- Assist with budget analyses and capital improvements program.
- Support snow and ice operations as needed.
