Job summary

The Village of Glendale Heights Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant Village Engineer to perform complex engineering tasks across environmental, water, sewer, street and stormwater projects.

You will review private development plans for compliance, draft maps and exhibits, determine efficient solutions, and coordinate with the Village Engineer, consultants, and various agencies to support village programs and services.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex, technical and professional engineering work for environmental, water, sewer, street, stormwater management, and other Village projects and programs.
• Undertakes independent reviews of private project development plans and permits for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards.
• Drafts correspondence, prepares maps and other related exhibits, and coordinates with the Village Engineer, consulting engineers, and various agencies and the public.

Job description

The Village of Glendale Heights Public Works Department has a position available for an Assistant Village Engineer. Performs complex, technical and professional engineering work for environmental, water, sewer, street, stormwater management, and other Village projects and programs ensuring technical competence and compliance with all codes and ordinances. Undertakes independent reviews of private project development plans and permits for compliance with codes, regulations, and standards, adequacy of applications for permits and compliance with approved plans. Performs routines and technical drafting work in preparing maps and other related exhibits as needed. Determines methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses. Attends meetings, drafts correspondence, and maintains regular contact with the Village Engineer, consulting engineers, construction project engineers, Village, County, State and Federal agencies, professional and technical groups and general public regarding Village activities and services.
