Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our municipal engineering team in Minneapolis. You will work on diverse civil and municipal projects, including highways, utilities, parks and related infrastructure, under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer.

This entry level role involves developing construction plans, preparing reports and cost estimates, performing field observations, and coordinating with design teams to meet project objectives and codes.

Responsibilities

• Support a team in the development of civil designs, preparation of plans and specifications, reports and other technical tasks on projects under the supervision of a Project Manager or Project Engineer.
• Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
• Perform field work/construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager as needed.
• Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
• Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and written, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
• Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, sustainability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Utilize three-dimensional technologies and modeling software in development, design and analysis of civil systems.
• Compute and review cost estimates for project feasibility, budgeting, and value engineering opportunities.
• Collect and analysis data and perform calculations that support civil system design decisions and development process.
• Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
