Job summary

Monroe County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a maintenance technician to perform repairs and maintenance to county facilities and grounds. The role requires journeyman-level skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and roofing, with the ability to analyze work orders, prepare cost estimates, and procure materials for projects.

A high school diploma or GED and five years of related experience, plus a valid Florida driver’s license, are required.

Responsibilities

Analyzes work orders and develops a cost-effective plan to complete the job.
Applies journeyman-level skills in trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, roofing) for repairs.
Installs and troubleshoots electrical services, wiring, panels, and disconnects.
Performs carpentry and masonry work on buildings.
Repairs and replaces roofing and weatherproofing as needed.
Prepares materials lists with prices and handles procurement paperwork.
Maintains tools and equipment and ensures safety compliance.
Coordinates repairs and installations of emergency generators and oversees contractors.
Works with events setup and maintains daily paperwork.
