Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty medical practice. The role provides support to clinicians to deliver safe, effective, and efficient patient care across several specialties.

You will room patients, collect histories and vitals, prepare charts, handle documentation, manage referrals and pre-authorizations, and travel between CLS Health locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Certified or registered medical assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and update chief complaint, medical history, medications, and vitals.
• Prepare patient charts in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to patient charts.
• Maintain stocked and clean exam rooms.
• Refill medications and obtain prior authorization as needed.
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are up-to-date.
• Assist physician in exam room with wounds or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document conversations.
• Educate patients about DI, labs, referrals, and procedures.
• Schedule upcoming appointments after visits.
• Obtain authorization before sending orders.
• Route faxes to appropriate team members.
• Travel to other CLS Health locations.
• Performs related duties as required.
