Job summary

CLS Health PLLC in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support a multispecialty medical practice. The MA will perform a wide range of tasks to deliver safe, effective, and efficient patient care.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, updating medical histories, documenting vitals, prepping charts, and coordinating tests and referrals. Travel to other CLS Health locations is required.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with national accreditation
• Willingness to travel to other CLS Health locations
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred

Responsibilities

• Room patients and interview/update chief complaint, medical history, medications, and vitals
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits
• Scan documents to patient charts
• Keep rooms stocked and clean before, after, and at day end
• Refill medications and obtain pre-authorization/determination as needed
• Ensure physician is in-network and referrals are up-to-date in chart
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care and procedures
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document conversations
• Educate patients on DI, labs, referrals, and procedures ordered
• Schedule appointments after physician sees patient
• Obtain authorization before sending orders
• Distribute faxes to appropriate team members
• Travel to other CLS Health locations
• Performs related duties as required
