Job summary

CLS Health PLLC is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join a multispecialty medical practice in Houston, Texas. The role supports safe, effective patient care and participates in clinical and administrative tasks across locations.

The ideal candidate is certified or registered, with excellent communication and multitasking abilities, and comfortable with medical terminology and insurance billing. Travel to other CLS Health locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient and interviewing/updating chief complaint and medical history.
• Take vitals and prepare patient charts ahead of appointments.
• Scan documents and ensure accurate charting.
• Stock and clean exam rooms and manage supplies.
• Refill medications and obtain pre-authorization when needed.
• Ensure in-network referrals are current and documented.
• Assist physician in exam room with wound care or procedures.
• Follow up on calls and document conversations.
• Educate patients on labs, referrals, and procedures ordered.
• Schedule follow-up appointments after visits.
• Obtain authorizations before sending orders.
• Distribute faxes to relevant team members and travel to other CLS Health locations.
