Job summary

Aterra Real Estate in West Des Moines, IA is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our on-site team. You will perform a wide range of maintenance tasks across residential and commercial properties, ensuring safety, curb appeal, and tenant satisfaction.

Responsibilities include basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC diagnostics, and routine upkeep. The role requires lifting up to 75 pounds, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel locally on occasion.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in building/property maintenance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a “do it right the first time” mindset.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Great communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Background check required.
• Lifting, pushing, pulling 75 pounds or more on occasion.
• Bi-lingual is a PLUS!

Responsibilities

• Common area maintenance (change light bulbs, replace ceiling tiles).
• Minor drywall repair and painting/paint touch-ups.
• Security of leased spaces; work with locksmiths and re-keying.
• Carpentry skills and ability to interpret plans is helpful.
• Minor plumbing and electrical repairs that do not require a license.
• HVAC diagnostics and basic repairs.
• Yard and landscaping upkeep; trash collection and snow removal.
• Concreate curb and parking lot maintenance.
